Makueni County borders Kajiado County to the West, Taita Taveta County to the South, Kitui County to the East and Machakos County to the North. Major physical features in the county include the volcanic Chyulu hills in Kibwezi West Constituency, Mbooni hills in Mbooni Constituency and Kilungu hills in Kaiti Constituency.

Deputy Governor of Makueni

Hon. Adelina Ndeto Mwau, The Deputy Governor of the Government of Makueni County is a Gender and Development Consultant. Hon. Adelina is the first Deputy Governor of the Government of Makueni County who assumed office on 27th March, 2013.

The Department of Education and ICT will be conducting I.C.T training through the "TŨSOMEEI COMPUTER NDŨANI PROGRAMME" in the 30 wards across the county. The programme, which is expected to start in January 2017, is aimed at training at least 3,000 out-of-school youths within 3 months. Interested youths are encouraged to apply by filling the forms available at the sub-ward (village) administrators' offices by 20th January, 2017. The forms will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. 


The starting of libraries in the County is an initiative of the Shina Foundation in collaboration with Story Moja and the Government of Makueni County. Through the initiative, Shina Foundation in collaboration with the government has trained teacher librarians from 30 primary schools and purchased over 1,000 books for each library. Story Moja has donated 6,000 books to be distributed to the 30 libraries. Book donations have also been received from Moran Publishers and the East African Educational Publishers (EAEP).  READ MORE
