At Kilili Chief’s Camp, Kilili/Kalamba ward, Makueni Sub-County, elated farmers receive planting seeds donated by the County Government.
Devolution and Public Service Executive Committee Member Japheth Mang’oka who oversaw the distribution exercise asked the farmers to ensure they store a larger part of the harvest to avoid falling victim to catastrophic hunger.
At least 130,000 households will benefit from certified planting seeds bought by the county government.
The seeds consist of 149 metric tonnes of maize, 40 tonnes of beans, 127 tonnes of sorghum and 85 tonnes of green grams
The exercise is ongoing across the 30 wards with residents urged to take advantage of the county donated climate-resilient seeds for sustainable agriculture.
