KYANDUU WATER PROJECT TO STRENGTHEN CLIMATE RESILIENCE AND WATER ACCESS IN KEE WARD

The County Government of Makueni has officially handed to a contractor the site for construction of the Kyanduu Integrated Water Project in Kee Ward, funded under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program.

The project will see the expansion of the existing water pan to increase storage capacity, solar power installation, construction of a masonry distribution tank, three water kiosks, and perimeter fencing to safeguard the water quality. In addition, a climate-smart demonstration farm will be set up to train local farmers on climate-resilient agriculture practices.

Speaking during the handover on Tuesday, Head of the Climate Change Unit, Jackline Kamusa, said the project is a key step in addressing water scarcity while promoting sustainable farming in the community. She added that the initiative also bolsters Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr’s agenda of achieving universal water coverage across Makueni.
