Kibwezi 5th November – Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili Thursday Morning inspected the ongoing construction of the KSh 70 million Maternity Wing and Newborn Unit at Kibwezi Sub-County Hospital, a project funded by the M-PESA Foundation.
The project is currently 50 per cent complete, with completion expected in January 2027. Once completed, the 60-bed-capacity facility will feature a maternity ward, labour and delivery rooms, a Kangaroo Mother Care Unit, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), laundry facilities, a soak pit, a placenta pit and an incinerator.
The facility is expected to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare services by expanding access to quality care and providing a dedicated environment for mothers and newborns.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by CECM for Health Services Joyce Mutua, Chief Officers Dr Harvey Mulei and Japheth Kiminza, among other officials.
