GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR HAS TODAY INKED A PARTNERSHIP DEAL WITH JACOBS LADDER AFRICA TO EMPOWER MAKUENI YOUTH IN AGRIBUSINESS
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has today inked a partnership deal with Jacobs Ladder Africa to empower Makueni Youth in Agribusiness, train and build their capacity on financial management and access to resources and market for the products.
The targeted value chains include Poultry, Aquaculture, Bee keeping, Tree nurseries and Vegetable growing.
By the end of January 2024, the first 20 aquaculture group of beneficiaries will be supported to construct fish ponds across the county through the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Youth.
MAKUENI COUNTY GOVERNMENT SIGNS A COLLABORATIVE FRAMEWORK WITH REREC
Today, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and REREC CEO Dr. Rose Mkalama signed a collaboration aimed at enhancing rural electricity accessibility, renewable energy and clean cooking.
The partnership, focusing on a holistic electrification effort, seeks to benefit approximately 624 households across the county, with a pivotal Kshs. 30 Million matching grant from the County Government.
“This fund is dedicated to uplifting households and institutions in the 2023/24 fiscal year, promising improved living standards and economic growth through enhanced access to electricity,” affirmed Governor Mutula.
Kicking off this transformative initiative, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and CEO Dr. Mkalama commissioned the Kako Waia CBO Warehouse electrification scheme in Mbooni Sub-County. Connecting 54 households, the project stands as a symbol of progress and connectivity in the community, marking the shared commitment of the County Government and REREC Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Corporation – Kenya to address the crucial need for electricity in underserved areas.
100 BRIGHT AND NEEDY LEARNERS FROM MAKUENI WHO SAT THEIR KCPE IN 2023 WILL JOIN THEIR SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF CHOICE ON FULL SCHOLARSHIPS SPONSORED BY THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF MAKUENI.
100 bright and needy learners from Makueni who sat their KCPE in 2023 will join their secondary schools of choice on full scholarships sponsored by the County Government of Makueni.
The 100 learners who report to school next week were awarded their first-year scholarship fee cheques by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr at Wote Green Park Friday after a thorough vetting process.
Esther Kyalo who wrote her KCPE at Kiaoni Primary School (Kikumbulyu North) and scored 392 marks terms this scholarship as God-send. Her dreams of joining Moi Girls Eldoret appeared all but shattered before the scholarship opportunity knocked on her door. Her family had to sell a few chicken to offset debts at her former school before she could be cleared and obtain results.
Mutula pledged to leverage on his good working relationship with different development partners to mobilize for more funds so that every bright vulnerable child in Makueni may be able to get an education. He has also called on national legislators to enact laws that make universal education affordable and accessible to all and not a preserve of the wealthy.
