๐ช๐ผ๐๐ฒ, ๐ฎ๐ณ๐๐ต ๐ข๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ- Makueni County has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Women Engaged for Development (WED) to strengthen collaboration in improving maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health across the county.
The partnership seeks to eliminate preventable maternal deaths, reduce maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent mortality, and accelerate efforts towards eliminating adolescent pregnancies. It also aims to strengthen healthcare systems, enhance the quality of care and improve the overall well-being of mothers and children in Makueni County.
The collaboration will focus on three key areas: increasing the quantity and quality of domestic funding for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MNCAH+N) at national and sub-national levels in priority areas ; promoting the adoption of policies that support the scaling up of proven, cost-effective interventions for womenโs and childrenโs health; and improving the implementation of policies that prioritise womenโs and childrenโs health in priority areas.
The WED team, led by Prof. Anne Kihara, reaffirmed the importance of partnerships in advancing health outcomes and ensuring that women, children and adolescents have access to quality healthcare services.
Speaking during the signing, Mutula emphasised that health remains a key priority for county governments, noting that healthcare interventions must have a meaningful impact on every citizen.
He observed that the best health outcomes are achieved when stakeholders work together, highlighting the importance of collaboration in addressing health challenges and strengthening service delivery.
