Call for Submissions on Pending Bills

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS ON PENDING BILLS

Section 148 (1) of the PFM Act, 2012 stipulates that a County Executive Committee member for finance shall, except as otherwise provided by law, in writing designate accounting officers to be responsible for managing the finances of the County Government entities as is specified in the designation. Pending bills form part of the County Government finances which have to be managed.

During the 56th Madaraka Day celebrations held on 1st June 2019, H.E The President called upon the County Governments to settle all genuine pending bills.

The Inter-Governmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) held a meeting on 18th June, 2019 and provided a framework for resolution of the ineligible pending bills. Accordingly, all County Governments were required to establish County Pending Bills Committee.

The Government of Makueni County has already established the Pending Bills Committee with clear mandate as stipulated in the Terms of Reference.

In regard to the above we are calling upon all Suppliers, Contractors and Staff with pending bill/s against the County Government of Makueni as at 30th June 2020 to submit their claim documents addressed to the undersigned and clearly labelled ‘Pending Bills’. The documents should be dropped at the White Box labelled ‘Pending Bills’ located at the County Treasury offices at MAP by close of business on 15th July,2021.

Call for Interns

The Government of Makueni County would like to engage recently graduated students (2018/2019) from Makueni as interns in the different Directorates and Functions in the Department of Gender, Children, Culture & Social Services. The internship Program Shall run for four months and is non-renewable.

Makueni County utilizes internship as a tool for developing skills among the youth and molding interns to become responsible citizens who will contribute effectively in the socio-economic development of the County, Country and the World.

We invite candidates to apply for the internship opportunities in the following Directorates/ Functions:

  • Social Services (8 positions):-Desired qualifications; Degree/Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Community Development or any other relevant social science course.
  • Culture, Music & Arts (2 positions):-
  • Culture (1 Position)-Desired qualifications; Degree/Diploma in Sociology, Archaeology & Anthropology or any other related course
  • Music and Arts(1 Position)-Desired Qualifications; Degree/Diploma in Media Studies, Videography, Filming or any other related courses
  • Civil works for PWD center (2 positions):-Desired Qualifications-Degree//Diploma in Building and Construction Management; Civil Engineering or any other construction related course

CABINET SECRETARY FOR HEALTH SUSAN NAKHUMICHA EARLIER TODAY ARRIVED IN WOTE, MAKUENI, FOR A SPOT CHECK ON UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE ROLL OUT AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ON SOCIAL HEALTH INSURANCE REGULATIONS 2024.

Cabinet Secretary for Health Susan Nakhumicha earlier today arrived in Wote, Makueni, for a spot check on Universal Health Care roll out and Public Participation on Social Health Insurance regulations 2024. The CS is hosted by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and Senator Daniel Maanzo.

Building for the future

Governor Kivutha Kibwana on Tuesday opened a one day mentorship seminar on servant and visionary leadership for Makueni University Students Association leaders at Wote.

The seminar is organized by the County Government in Partnership with the Africa Servant Leadership Development Initiative (ASLEAD).

According to governor Kibwana, the seminar is meant to build young visionary leaders for the county and country, who will provide a revolutionary leadership through peer influence in few years to come.

He said his administration is working towards getting young people to provide strategic leadership at all levels of administration in the county. For starters, Kibwana ordered the Education department to ensure each of the county bursary committees has a slot for a MUSA representative.

“This is the beginning point for building future great leaders for this county. I feel greatly empowered to go any length in the service for humanity,” Said Jane Syombua the assistant MUSA Secretary General Kaiti chapter.

Syombua is a Bachelor of Science in Medicine and Surgery student at Egerton University.

Building Development Partnerships

On Monday, Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili hosted a high powered delegation from Micro-Enterprise Support Programme (MESPT) led by Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Amukhoye who paid the DG a courtesy call in Wote.
Discussions centered on enhancing partnerships between Makueni and MESPT in several Agricultural value chains and enhancing food safety competitiveness of the county.
Some of the key partnership areas include:
Support to agriculture policy development; support to establish a veterinary and food safety mini laboratory; Development of the Agricultural Training Centre-Kwakathoka as an Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education Training (ATVET) Facility.
MESPT supports Green Employment in Agriculture and AgriFI Food Safety programmes in Makueni.

BUILDING CLIMATE SMART AGRICULTURE

A private investor is set to put up an ultra modern organic Millet and Sorghum processing plant in Kibwezi targeting 1,000 farmers.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and Organic Millet Team leader Virendra Karsanji Rawal on Tuesday inked a partnership deal for establishment of the plant.

The project is set to promote cultivation, processing and marketing of millet and sorghum to enhance food security, promote sustainable development and economic well being of farmers

FY 2023/2024 Budget Public Participation

The Department of Finance and Socio-Economic Planning in conjunction with the Department of Devolution, public participation, county administration and special programmes has initiated the participatory budgeting process for FY 2023/24.
The FY 2023/24 budget will be guided by the development philosophy of “Wauni wa Kwika Nesa na Ulungalu” and will be geared towards the following:
1. Enhancing universal water access in the County;
2. Increasing sustainable agriculture production, value addition and market access for targeted value chains;
3. Improving urban and rural infrastructural development socio-economic transformation;
4. Increasing industrialization and enterprise development by creating a conducive environment for investment and employment creation, and;
5. Sustaining and enhancing access to quality and affordable health services.
Public engagement fora at sub-wards are scheduled for 30th-31st March and 5th April 2023 for the ward level.
