๐—ž๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜„๐—ฎ, ๐Ÿด๐˜๐—ต ๐—ข๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ -Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili has assured Makueni residents that the county government has put in place measures to mitigate floods associated with the forecast El Nino phenomenon.

The DG who spoke while inspecting ongoing works at Kyanzonzo and Munyuni rivers in Kalawa Ward, however, advised residents to take precaution during the expected heavy rains to avoid accidents.

The works include construction of a sand dam and a 1-metre wall to retain sand, strengthen the river crossing to enhance safety for residents.

The Deputy Governor, who was accompanied by Finance CECM, Damaris Kavoi, also inspected the 400-metre Uma-Kalambya Road in Kithungo/Kitundu Ward, which when completed, will improve access for residents, school-going children and neighbouring communities.

The projects, being implemented through the Countyโ€™s Emergency Fund, target vulnerable areas, including Kitundu, Mbitini, Nzaui, Kalawa and Kiima Kiu, with focus on strengthening critical infrastructure and protecting residents from the effects of heavy rains.
