GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR HAS UNVEILED A TRANSFORMATIVE WATER HARVESTING AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAM IN KAKO WARD, DUBBED DRAIN TO GAIN (D2G).
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has unveiled a transformative water harvesting and management program in Kako Ward, dubbed Drain To Gain (D2G).
The program entails road run-off water harvesting for irrigation agriculture and environmental management by way of trenches linking roads and farms.
During a development tour of Kako/Waia Ward on Thursday, Governor Mutula also commissioned Kako-Kandulyu drift to ease transportation, and inaugurated Kako market day to promote trade.
He was accompanied by Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili, area MCA Dennis Musyoka and Assembly Majority Leader Kisungi Katete.
POULTRY FARMERS TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperative Development has launched a two-day training workshop specifically tailored for lead poultry farmers. The workshop is designed to equip these farmers with practical skills and knowledge aimed at enhancing poultry production. The training covers essential topics such as poultry disease management, housing, incubation, and hatching, all of which are critical to successful poultry farming.
During the workshop, Chief Officer for Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives Development, Japtheth Kiminza, highlighted the importance of adopting the cooperative model across all agricultural value chains. He emphasized that the National Agriculture Value Chain Development Program (NAVCDP) supports this model, which allows farmers to pool resources, reduce costs, increase bargaining power, and improve access to markets, training, and other vital services.
The event was also graced by the presence of the Director of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. David Musyoki, Project Coordinator Paul Musyimi, and County Community Institutions Development Officer Roselyne Mumbua.
AD-HOC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS ESTABLISHMENT OF MBOONI- KEE MUNICIPALITY.
An ad-hoc committee established to assess the viability of the proposed Mbooni-Kee Municipality has recommended establishment and operationalization of the new Municipality.
In a report presented to Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Tuesday, the committee confirmed that the Municipality meets all the criteria set out under Section 9(3a-i) of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, 2011.
The report will be adopted by Cabinet then submitted to Makueni County Assembly for approval.
3400 RESIDENTS TO RECEIVE TITLE DEEDS

Over 3,400 landowners in Kaunguni and Kinyoo settlement schemes in Kibwezi-West Sub-County will soon secure their title deeds set to be issued next month.
This milestone follows a consultative meeting held in Nairobi on Monday between Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and Ministry of Lands Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome .The discussions centered on the issuance of titles and other key land matters in Makueni County.
The county government is actively collaborating with the Ministry of Lands to expedite the adjudication process and the issuance of title deeds in all pending settlement schemes and sections such as Kai B, Kathekani B and Syumile among others.
It was also agreed that the erroneous land records for Malili and Aimi Ma Kilungu Ranches, currently housed in Machakos, be transferred to Makueni to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Also in attendance at the meeting were Lands CECM Nicholas Nzioka and Chief Officer Jackson Daudi.
