DR. SONIA NZILANI, THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER FOR TRADE, MARKETING INDUSTRY, CULTURE, AND TOURISM, RECENTLY SPEARHEADED THE DISTRIBUTION OF 20 WATER TANKS.

Dr. Sonia Nzilani, the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Marketing Industry, Culture, and Tourism, recently spearheaded the distribution of 20 water tanks generously donated by a partnership between the National Government’s Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism and Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.
The initiative is designed to bolster wildlife conservation efforts in areas facing significant Human-Wildlife conflict within Makueni County, with a particular focus on benefiting Early Childhood Centers in Kibwezi East Sub-County and Kitise Kithuki ward.

MAKUENI DRAWS WAJIR, KAJIADO IN MEN FOOTBALL AT KYISA 2024

Makueni Men Football Team will play their KYISA opening game against Wajir on Tuesday in Pool C that also features Kajiado County.

The women team will square it out with Siaya on Tuesday before meeting Nyeri on Wednesday.

In Men Volleyball, Makueni has been pooled with Kilifi, Siaya, Nakuru and Nyeri. The Lady volleyballers have been drawn together with Siaya, Kilifi and Nyeri.

The games are taking place in Malindi, Kilifi County.

GOVERNOR MUTULA MEETS PRESIDENTIAL TEAM FOR MAKUENI’S FRUIT VALUE CHAIN DEVELOPMENT

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Thursday met a delegation of the Presidential Economic Transformation Secretariat led by the head, Augustine Cheruiyot, that paid him a courtesy call in Wote.

Discussions centered on strategies to make Makueni a centre of excellence for fruits production. Development of the mango value chain for both local and export markets was addressed in detail.

Talks with the Agriculture and Food Authority, through Horticultural Crops Directorate (HCD), are at an advanced stage for establishment of a fruits hot water treatment facility in Makueni to curb the menace of fruitfly.

The team also explored key areas of livestock production in the county.

CECM ICT, EDUCATION AND INTERNSHIP CALLS ON KESSHA TO ADOPT DIGITAL LEARNING

While addressing the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) members in their ongoing conference, the CECM ICT, Education and Internship has lauded them for the integral part they play in every child’s life and in shaping the nation at large.

Centering her message on Digital Learning, Ms Muli delved into the benefits of embracing technology in the school curriculum.

These include providing a platform for teachers to personalize instructions for each student needs, creating ease in tracking students learning progress via adaptive learning software and data analytics as parents experience greater visibility into their children’s
learning journey at the click of a button through accessing progress reports and
learning platforms.

The County Executive Committee Member added that digital learning is cost effective thus once embraced will reduce textbooks budgetary allocation as all learnning resources are available online. Therefore, education will be accessible to all at affordable rates and will expose learners to different cultures hence broadening their perspectives on education and life in general.

While speaking in the same forum, KESSHA chairman has expressed the union’s gratitude for the shared strategic partnership with the county government which ensured needy students received both bursaries and scholarships.

Present in the two day conference which closed this evening bringing 300 attendees on board was TSC officials and the County director in education.

COMPETITION FOR THE DESIGN OF SOUTH EASTERN KENYA ECONOMIC BLOC (SEKEB) EMBLEM,FLAG,AND OFFICIAL SEAL

The South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB) Summit wishes to invite the public to participate
in the design of a SEKEB Emblem, Flag, and Official Seal.
The emblem should bear the following conditions:
i. Bear the name South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc
ii. Capture the main physical, social, economic, and cultural activities in Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties.
iii. Bear the colours of the emblems of the county governments of Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni.
iv. Be original in nature and must not be the same as or be a likeness or similar to a national
or county symbol.
v. Be done using the standard design program with a scale /size 28 *20 and a graphic resolution of 1280*768.
Eligibility
Entrants must be Kenyan citizens, residents of Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties. Students
are encouraged to participate; however, if a student wins a cash prize, the same will be paid
through the guardian or school administration.
Guidelines
DESIGN OF SOUTH EASTERN KENYA ECONOMIC BLOC (SEKEB) EMBLEM, FLAG, AND OFFICIAL SEAL
i. Submission of the designs must be both hard and soft copies.
ii. Entrants must not submit more than one entry in each category.
iii. There is no participation fee.
iv. Once a winner has been selected and awarded, South Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc shall
retain copyright and intellectual property rights.
Prizes
The winner will be awarded as follows:
i. Winner – Ksh. 100,000
ii. 1st runners-up – Ksh. 75,000
iii. 2nd runners up – Ksh. 50,000
Note:
By submitting the designs, you agree to transfer copyrights of the design to the South Eastern
Kenya Economic Bloc. The proposed designs should be emailed to sekebsymbols@kitui.go.ke
before Tuesday 23rd of April 2024 at 12:00 noon. A hard copy of the same should be enclosed in
a plain envelope marked; COMPETITION FOR DESIGN OF SEKEB EMBLEM, FLAG,
AND OFFICIAL SEAL addressed to the undersigned, and deposited in the tender box at the
county headquarters on or before Tuesday 23rd of April 2024 at 12.00 noon.
