Governor condoles with finance CECM family as they lay mother to rest

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Saturday condoled with the family of the late Esther Ndunge Ndambuki, mother to Makueni’s Finance CECM Damaris Kavoi at at AIC Kwamathathi, Kangundo, machakos County.
The Governor eulogized the late Esther Ndunge,84, an educationist, as a dependable resource to her family and the greater society who took education of the girl-child serious.
He was accompanied by H.E Lucy Mulili (Deputy Governor), CECMs Japheth Mang’oka (Devolution), Elizabeth Muli (Education & ICT), County Secretary Dr. Justine Kyambi, majority leader Kyalo Mumo, among several County officials.

Opening up roads to enhance communication and trading activities

In an effort to enhance communication and trading activities in Makueni and Kibwezi West sub counties,Deputy Governor H.E Lucy Mulili on Friday launched construction of the the 31.5 kilometers Kwa Mutula road,a critical road linking Mbitini,Emali all through to Kasikeu wards.
In her speech to the residents at Kwa Mutula Market,Mulili stated that upon completion in three months time,the road is expected to open up Makueni-Kibwezi West’s food basket to the rest of the county.
To urbanize the region even further, the Deputy Governor reiterated Governor Mutula administration ‘s commitment to elevate Emali-Sultan Municipality status.
She reported that roads are an enabler of development and a driver of the economy by providing linkages between farmers and markets.
Deputy Governor was flanked by Speaker Douglas Mbilu, ECMs Sebastian Kyoni(Roads and transport),Daniel Musila(Health), chief officers Stephen Ndolo(health),Eng.James Muli(roads) Mcas, Cosmus Mutunga (Emali-Mulala) Benard Mutua(Mbitini) among other leaders.
 

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr inaugurated as the Patron, Kenya Red Cross Society, Makueni

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, the Kenya Red Cross Governor Geoffrey Korir, head of departments, regional chair, regional manager, and red cross county management teams on Wednesday held a discussion on strengthening partnerships in the humanitarian field, especially in areas of disaster management, climate change, water and sanitation, food security and health.
The KRCS team also inaugurated Governor Mutula to be KRCS patron in the county whereby the major role of the governor will be to oversee all Red Cross programs in the county and offer support in the body’s activities through diverse partnerships as well as resource mobilization.

Governor Mutula leads swearing of Emali-Sultan Hamud Municipality Board

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Tuesday witnessed the swearing-in of Emali-Sultan Hamud municipality board members, the second municipality in the county besides Wote.
Mutula who spearheaded establishment of the municipality after taking office in August last year termed Emali as the county’s biggest revenue earner from its strategic location along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway and the gateway to Tanzania through the Loitokitok border.
He said his administration is working on promoting Emali as Makueni’s economic hub while Wote town remains as the administrative capital. The municipality has already been approved for Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP) to improve basic infrastructure.

Makueni to conduct fistula surgeries.

Women living with fistula, a condition where women leak urine and stool are expected to receive free surgery and medical care services at the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital.
According to Dr. Doris Mbithi, a fistula expert based in Makueni, this will be the first time the county is offering such services. At least, nine county medical staff were trained at the gyno care fistula center in Eldoret to help with the operations.
Makueni’s Dr. Mbithi will be the lead surgeon.
Officiating the launch of the obstetric fistula treatment centre on Monday, Deputy Governor H.E Lucy Mulili urged the afflicted women to come out in large numbers for free treatment.
Mulili said she will be at the forefront of ensuring that women don’t live with incontinence and shame that comes with Obstetric Fistula.
 
 

Makueni goes Cashless in Revenue Collection with Damaris Kavoi-ECM Finance

Officials drawn from the Department of Finance, Planning, Budget & Revenue led by County Executive Committee Member (CECM), Finance, Damaris Kavoi on Friday carried out a day-long exercise sensitizing Wote business community on the move to digitizing the Revenue Collection exercise across the county.
The exercise aims at easing the operations which include; the time taken to process business permits, and cashless parking fee payment methods, among others.
She also pointed out that the government is committed to ensuring the smooth running of activities through modern digitization.
 

FY 2023/2024 Budget Public Participation

The Department of Finance and Socio-Economic Planning in conjunction with the Department of Devolution, public participation, county administration and special programmes has initiated the participatory budgeting process for FY 2023/24.
The FY 2023/24 budget will be guided by the development philosophy of “Wauni wa Kwika Nesa na Ulungalu” and will be geared towards the following:
1. Enhancing universal water access in the County;
2. Increasing sustainable agriculture production, value addition and market access for targeted value chains;
3. Improving urban and rural infrastructural development socio-economic transformation;
4. Increasing industrialization and enterprise development by creating a conducive environment for investment and employment creation, and;
5. Sustaining and enhancing access to quality and affordable health services.
Public engagement fora at sub-wards are scheduled for 30th-31st March and 5th April 2023 for the ward level.

Thrilling Experience as Kilifi County Assembly Health Committee Benchmarks Makueni’s UHC

Makueni Health Chief Officer Dr. Stephen Ndolo on Thursday received a delegation from Kilifi County Assembly’s Health Committee who visited to benchmark on Universal Healthcare.
Among the areas of interest were operations at the Mother and Child Unit, physiotherapy Department, Makueni Brain Centre, CT-Scan Centre, oxygen plant, cancer screening and Treatment unit and the Universal Healthcare registration desk.
Edward ziro, a member of Kilifi County Assembly representing Mwana-mwinga ward and the chair in the health committee lauded Makueni for equity in access to healthcare services yet the locals are able to receive highest standard of curative, preventive and promotion healthcare.
Dr. Ndolo noted that the program has been so entrenched in the people who have seen its benefit adding that there has been a lot of demand for health services since the onset of the programme.
