Governor presides over first-ever county enforcement officers pass out parade

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Thursday presided over the first-ever pass-out event for 48 Enforcement Officers at Unoa grounds, Wote, Makueni Sub-County.
The pass out followed a 4-week rigorous training at ATC Kwa Kathoka that involved; first aid, self-defense, customer service, and public relations among other skills.
During the ceremony, the governor expressed his administration’s commitment to recruiting more disciplined officers into the team.
H.E. the governor asked the officers to always work with dedication, and observe integrity while executing their roles.

Saturday, May 13, 2023/ Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr graced Tusome Foundation /MINA motivation and Prize giving ceremony at Ikalyoni secondary school, Kilungu, Kaiti sub-county, where Students, and teachers are getting awarded for their good performance in different fields including those who excelled in last year’s KCPE & KCSE examinations.
The governor’s 2016 brainchild Tusome Foundation covers 6 primary schools, and 1 secondary school and has been doing welfare activities, supporting education, and environmental conservation.
H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr fired warning shot on sex pests preying on minors after reports emerged of increased defilement cases in the region.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Deputy Governor H.E Lucy Mulili accompanied by CECM Devolution Japheth Mang’oka, Irene Makau (Chief officer Devolution and Public Participation) and Civic Education Officers today held talks with Africa’s Voices Foundation(AVF) team led by Damaris Ndegwa, Director of Business Operations,
to explore strategic areas of partnership on strengthening citizen participation in decision-making processes.

Let’s uphold peace for development, DG Mulili urges

H.E Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili on Saturday attended wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Nziu at Sultan-Hamud Catholic Church, Kilome Sub-County where she urged locals from the cosmopolitan town to always uphold peace in order to promote development.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by Irene Makau (Devolution Chief Officer), Kavai Nzai (MCA Kasikeu ward), among others local leaders.
 

Joy as governor launches NCPB satellite depots.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Friday launched Mukuyuni and Kikima NCPB satellite depots for the last mile delivery of subsidized fertilizer bringing the commodity closer to farmers.
Initially farmers used to get subsidized fertilizers from the three NCPB main depots located at Wote, Emali and Kibwezi Town.
“We will ensure that these depots are opened as early as 7a.m so that farmers can be supplied with fertilizer”, the governor said in Kikima.
128,410 out of 193, 384 farmers registered for the fertilizer subsidy Programme in the County will benefit and make the county food secure.
The Governor was accompanied by NCPB Managing Director Mr. Joseph Kimote , Kaburu Kaimba (county commissioner), CECMs: Japheth Mang’oka (Devolution), Joyce Mutua (Agriculture).
 
 

Reprieve as accident response vehicle for Mombasa-Nairobi highway, Makueni stretch is received

Road crash victims between Mtito-Andei and Malili have better chance of recovery, and even avoiding death since they will be receiving quick medical treatment at the scene of an injury before quickly getting rushed to hospital as H.E governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr receives a road Traffic Accident Response vehicle for the section.
The vehicle came as a result of partnership between the County and Polish Aid.
It will be stationed at Makindu Fire Station, a central place for responding to accidents and will be able to reduce the severity of injuries suffered.
The vehicle is fitted with 2 hydraulic pumps, a hydraulic cutter, a ram and spreader, trauma bags, extension ladders, and a stretcher. All firefighters who are to operate the vehicle have been trained in basic life support and road traffic accident techniques.
 
 

Protecting Devolution.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr today was among governors who attended the full council meeting to deliberate on pertinent issues protecting devolution for the Makueni people and Kenya at large.
It was addressed among other issues that:
i) Treasury should immediately release sh. 94.35 billion owed to the Counties lest operations within the counties will be shut down after 14 days ultimatum.
ii) Conveyed dissatisfaction after the senate voted against Division of a revenue bill, 2023 that would have seen counties get sh. 407 billion as an equitable share in FY 2023/2024.
 

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr inaugurated as the Patron, Kenya Red Cross Society, Makueni

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, the Kenya Red Cross Governor Geoffrey Korir, head of departments, regional chair, regional manager, and red cross county management teams on Wednesday held a discussion on strengthening partnerships in the humanitarian field, especially in areas of disaster management, climate change, water and sanitation, food security and health.
The KRCS team also inaugurated Governor Mutula to be KRCS patron in the county whereby the major role of the governor will be to oversee all Red Cross programs in the county and offer support in the body’s activities through diverse partnerships as well as resource mobilization.

Makueni launches Ajiry centre; to help youth find well-paying jobs

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Tuesday officially launched the Ajiry programme and Ajiry center at the Wote Green Park.
The Makueni Ajiry center will offer a wide range of services to the youth including; Digital skills training, mentorship, free access to music and podcast recording studios, and cyber security training and certification.
According to the ICT, Education, and Internship ECM, Elizabeth Muli, this initiative will enable the youth to participate fully in the digital economy and expose them to job opportunities and online markets.
She noted that the digital space will also offer the youth a music studio where they could participate in recording their talents in music, podcasts, and deejaying.
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr said that the impact of the center will not only be felt in the community but also beyond, adding that his administration has created a model that can be replicated in other parts of the country in empowering the youth to become change-makers in their own right.
He further said that the institution was a game changer in the quest for youth and women empowerment, digital skills, and the digital economy.
The programme is delivered in partnership with the Makueni county government, Tribus-TSG, a subsidiary of Centum Investment Company, and the Mastercard foundation.

Makueni ready to host the country for the 7th Devolution Conference

Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana on Friday hosted a high powered team from the Council of Governors, the senate and the national government who are in the county to assess its preparedness of Makueni County to host the seventh and the final annual devolution conference that is set to kick-off approximately in a month’s time.

Kisii governor James Ongwae who is the chairperson of the devolution conference planning committee, and led the team, noted that all delegates attending the conference will be vaccinated against Covid-19 before then, as one of the measures to prevent spreading of corona virus among the masses.

Kibwana assured the team that plans were on top gear to make sure that the 4-day conference will be a success adding that the county is working very closely with the Ministry of Health to ensure that all protocols will be  observed to keep Covid-19 on check.
