GOVERNOR MUTULA IN PARTNERSHIP TALKS WITH HIVOS TO BOOST YOUTH ENTERPRISES.












Atleast 1,500 school going children from 15 schools in Makueni have been assured of uninterrupted learnig after receiving dignity packs during the Menstrual Hygiene Day on Tuesday.
The dignity packs targeting mostly teenage girls are meant to ensure no child misses school because of a biological condition. Those in marginalized areas, opharns, Children with chronically ill parents and children with a traumatic past will be given priority.
County First Lady Anita Mutula presided over the event at Kiongwani Primary School. The program is spearheaded by the Department of Health Services in conjuction with that of Gender, Children, Youth and Social Services.









County First Lady Makueni – Anita Mutula in partnership with the Department of Gender, Children, Youth, Sports and Social Services have flagged off social protection support for vulnerable groups in Makueni County.
The social support in form of wheelchairs, food items, blankets, mattresses and dignity packs for boys and girls is meant to cushion the elderly, people living with disabilities and opharned & vulnerable children against social and economic life shocks.
County Executive Committee Member for Gender Eng. Peter Mumo said the social protection program is geared towards ensuring a life of dignity and opportunity for all residents of Makueni. The department, he said, recognizes that social and economic vulnerabilities can prevent individuals and families from reaching their full potential.
Makueni has a population of 36,369 PWDs, 66,691 elderly persons, and over 65,000 OVC where only 23,716 are under cash transfer.






Makueni has set hopes high to scoop several of the trophies on offer at the 9th edition of Kenya Youth Inter-county Sports Association Games taking place in Malindi, Kilifi County.
On Thursday, our football girls knocked Nakuru 1-0 to climb to second position on 5 points in a Round Robin pool.The girls need just one more win against Kilifi to be crowned champions.
In men volleyball, Makueni progressed to the semi finals after beating Nyeri 3-2 and Siaya 3-0. They will still meet Siaya in the semi’s. The girls volleyball team is also through to semi’s after beating Nyeri 3-0 but falling 3-0 to Siaya.
Makueni basketball girls went on the rampage against Lamu in a 61-15 thriller that left the Lamu girls gasping for breath. The men basket ballers also thrashed Siaya 45-39 in one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament.
Makueni was however unsuccessful in Men football, falling 1-0 to Siaya in a quarter final clash.



Makueni teams at the Kenya Youth Inter-county Sports Association Games on Wednesday continued their winning streak with important wins in men football and women basketball.
In Men Football, Makueni trounced Embu 1-0 to advance to quarter finals top of group C on 7 points.
In Basketball, Makueni girls thrashed Busia 20-17 after a narrow defeat by Kilifi on Tuesday. The girls will be hopeful to make it to Semi-finals when they play Lamu on Thursday.
Our Football girls drew 1-1 against Nyeri and are now two points in the round Robin pool.
Makueni continues to imprint her mark in these games with a magnificient show of raw talent.

Makueni has picked crucial points on day 1 of action to stay in pole position of qualifying for next rounds in the Kenya Youth Inter-county Sports Association (KYISA) games staged in Kilifi County.
In men football, Makueni picked two points after two draws with Wajir and Kajiado. The men next meet Embu in a must win match on Wednesday to advance. Our girls also drew a point in a goalless draw against Siaya in a Round Robin pool.
In Men Basketball, Makueni thrashed hosts Kilifi 52-31 in a thrilling encounter which displayed class and raw talent.
This exposure is part of a wider vision by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr to change the sports landscape in Makueni by nurturing raw talents to international standards.

Makueni Men Football team weathered a tough challenge from Wajir to grab a point in a 1-1 draw in the opening match of group C at Malindi High School.
The game was a display of the raw talent from Makueni that Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has pledged to nurture for posterity.
Makueni will face Kajiado and Embu in their next fixtures of the group.

Makueni Men Football Team will play their KYISA opening game against Wajir on Tuesday in Pool C that also features Kajiado County.
The women team will square it out with Siaya on Tuesday before meeting Nyeri on Wednesday.
In Men Volleyball, Makueni has been pooled with Kilifi, Siaya, Nakuru and Nyeri. The Lady volleyballers have been drawn together with Siaya, Kilifi and Nyeri.
The games are taking place in Malindi, Kilifi County.
