GOVERNOR MUTULA OFFICIALLY OPENS MAKUENI CBEF INDUCTION WORKSHOP
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr officially opened the Makueni County Budget and Economic Forum (CBEF) induction workshop for the newly appointed CBEF Members organized by the Department of Finance and Socio-Economic planning in collaboration with the Commission on Revenue Allocation(CRA).
The training was meant to equip the new members of their role in county planning and development as they start the five-year journey as the People’s think tanks during the budgeting process.
The 2-day induction workshop came to an end leaving the 3rd Makueni County Budget and Economic Forum with a rich understanding on various areas of performance. As part of the conclusion and way forward, the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) agreed to sign an MoU with the County Government of Makueni. Further, there is need for the Forum members to develop their work plan, code of conduct, terms of reference (ToR) and also form sub-committees for more effective and efficient service delivery. The forum members have a role of mobilizing the people they represent and also furnish them with information and feedback always.
100 INTERNS JOIN MAKUENI PUBLIC SERVICE TO GAIN VALUABLE WORK EXPERIENCE
100 young people are set to join the Makueni County Public Service through the county internship program for a period of one year.
The program will help the interns gain valuable work experience by networking with professionals in the various county departments as well as give them a platform to explore a career path through developing and refining skills.
The young people were competitively selected by the County public service board and are a representation from the 30 wards in the county. This is the sixth cohort to join the county public service since devolution.
On Thursday, the interns started a 2-day induction to equip them with various public service policies, processes and office etiquette before they settle down in the various workstations.
The induction workshop was officially opened by Makueni Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili. According to Mulili, the interns will be subjected to performance appraisals so as to focus on specific targets.
Others present during the official opening of the induction workshop include ICT and Education CEC Elizabeth Muli, Chief Officers for ICT, Education and Internship, Financial services and Livestock, Alphonse Kanunga, Nicholi s Mutua, John Nguni and Dr. Victoria Kyalo respectively.

500 households benefit from emergency livestock feeds
At least 500 selected households from Kilome Sub-County will benefit from emergency livestock feeds program, courtesy of a partnership between the County Government of Makueni and the European Union (EU) through the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA).
The feeds will address the crisis of reduced quantity of pasture and fodder for livestock due to the little rainfall experienced in the area during the October-December rain season.
The distribution exercise was launched yesterday (Thursday) by Agriculture CEC Joyce Mutua and officials from NDMA in Kiima-kiu/Kalanzoni ward, and is ongoing in various locations within the sub-county.
Previously, the department of agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives Development has implemented various contingency activities in the livestock sector. Some of them are treatment and deworming of animals, vaccination of goats against Contagious Caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP 3), one of the most severe diseases of goats, and capacity building of officers on Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards.
