H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr will be Commissioning the new Tawa maternity and newborn unit for improved maternal health and child well-being. The hospital has been build by the County in partnership with Safaricom PLC .

Over 15,000 residents from Mbooni East, Makueni County will now benefit from improved health services following the commissioning of Tawa sub-County Hospital maternal and child health unit, thanks to collaboration between the Safaricom Mpesa Foundation and the County Government of Makueni.
The County and the foundation partnership has seen the facility get constructed and equipped to a tune of sh. 32 Million.
The health facility will be crucial in reducing referrals and bringing services closer to residents of Mbooni sub-County. It will also contribute to reducing maternal and child health mortality.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Thursday evening appeared before senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee to respond to auditor General’s report for the years 2018/2019, 2019/2020, and 2020/2021 surrounding three Makueni water companies: Mbooni Water and Sanitation Company (MBONWASCO), Wote Water and Sewerage Company (WOWASCO) and Kibwezi Makindu Water and Sanitation Company (KIBMAWASCO).
The senator Godfrey Osotsi led committee heard from the governor how the county had laid down various measures of ensuring the companies run on profitability and enough water is supplied to locals.
1. Intensified patrols to reduce water infrastructure vandalism
2. Automation to bring sanity in water sector through smart metres supported by Safaricom
3. Operationalization of various water projects for increased water volumes:
I) Operationalization of Athi Kalawa water project.
Ii) Athi-Tunguni to Kilema Hill water project
Iii) desilting and repair of pipes in Mulima earth dam .

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Monday evening flagged off the 2023 national school games handball boys runners up Mbooni Boys ahead of the East Africa Secondary School Games set for next week in Huye , Rwanda.
Mbooni reached the finals in Term One Games held in Eldoret falling 15-14 to Hospital Hill of Nairobi but booked a slot for the regional games to be held from 19-27 and which will attract teams from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Friday morning attended Makueni Girls High School Thanksgiving and prize-giving day where he was event’s chief guest.

The school under Mary Irene Okoth, Chief Principal, in the last year’s KCSE examination produced 1-A (81 Points), 7 students had B+, several others getting direct entry into various Kenya’s top universities.
The governor promised to ensure the school gets enough water through equipping, distribution, and solarisation of a borehole recently sank by the County Government to provide a 24-hour water supply. The borehole will be producing 2.3 m3.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr joined by Azimio top leadership led by Raila Odinga , Kalonzo Musyoka Eugene Wamalwa, Wycliffe Oparanya, Mwangi wa Iria, George Wajackoyah, Jeremiah Kioni, Daniel Maanzo, Rose Museo, Jessica Mbalu, among other leaders on Tuesday condoled with the family of the late Brian Muendo, 18, at Makasa Village, Wolwa in Nguu Masumba ward.
Brian died during demonstrations last month at Emali township.
Governor Mutula among several leaders have called for Brian’s family to be served with justice saying it was unfortunate for such a boy to have been killed at a tender age.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has called for peace and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all Kenyans without any distinction.
Speaking during the burial of Benson Kithuku at Nthaani, Kitundu, Mbooni West sub-County, the governor insisted that peace must be a priority before building the economy of any nation.
He expressed his confidence with the ongoing bipartisan talks between the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions that the committee will bring solutions.
He eulogized the late retired teacher and a unionist as a development oriented leader.
Mr. Kithuku served as Makueni KNUT Executive Secretary between 1994-2006 before joining politics where he unsuccessfully vied for Mbooni MP seat in 2013 and 2017.
Other leaders present were: Senator Dan Maanzo, Wilson Sossion, the former Knut Secretary-General among others.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr , a team from Diaspora Outreach Development Foundation Incorporated (DODFI) led by Prof. Philip M. Mutisya, today, held discussions on possible investment opportunities in Makueni on matters, education, technology, food security, and water, among others.
DODFI agreed to attract investment finance for projects in Makueni.
Kyalo Mumo, the Majority Leader at the County Assembly of Makueni, accompanied the visiting delegation to the governor.
