GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR JOINS MEMBERS OF THE MAKUENI COUNTY ASSEMBLY AND FAMILY MEMBERS FOR A MEMORIAL SERVICE OF THE LATE HON. MAGDALENE KALEMBE AT THE ASSEMBLY CHAMBERS.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr joins members of the Makueni County Assembly and family members for a memorial service of the late Hon. Magdalene Kalembe at the assembly chambers. The late nominated MCA passed on last week. She will be laid to rest later today at her Mbui Nzau home.

In attendance is Senator Daniel Maanzo, Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili and County Executive Committee Members.

SENATE PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE PRAISES MAKUENI’S REVENUE AUTOMATION AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT

The Senate County Public Accounts Committee has lauded Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr for the automation of all county revenue streams which has enabled the county to collect Kshs.1 Billion in own source revenue for the Financial Year 2023/2024.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna who chairs the committee termed the innovative financial solutions as key in achieving clean audits and value for money for Makueni residents. 

The committee also commended the mechanisms put in place to handle pending bills including legal fees, and requested the governor to share the same with the Council of Governors for replication in other counties. 

The Governor met with the Senate Committee on Tuesday morning to consider the Reports of the Auditor-General on the Financial Statements of the County Executive of Makueni for Financial Years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. A bulk of the recommendations and queries by the Auditor General in the year under review have been implemented and resolved.

GOVERNOR MUTULA IN PARTNERSHIP TALKS WITH HIVOS TO BOOST YOUTH ENTERPRISES.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Tuesday hosted a high powered delegation from Hivos to explore partnership opportunities in support of youth-led social enterprises by establishing an enabling environment for their growth.Through a program dubbed Youth-led Economic empowerment Action Program (Y-LEAP), the partnership seeks to create economic and employment opportunities for 100,000 young people in digital and green economies between 2024 and 2028.The program is spearheaded by the Department of Gender, Children, Youth, Sports and Social Services and that of Energy.

GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR. RECEIVES THE COMMENDATION TROPHY AND CERTIFICATE AWARDED TO THE COUNTY AT THE SOUTH EASTERN KENYA MACHAKOS NATIONAL SHOW, HELD LAST WEEK.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. receives the commendation trophy and certificate awarded to the county at the South Eastern Kenya Machakos National Show, held last week.

Makueni was recognized for its outstanding display across a wide range of agricultural value chains, aligning with this year’s theme of promoting climate-smart agriculture.

Governor Mutula congratulated the staff from the Department of Agriculture and expressed appreciation for the county’s collaboration with the Agricultural Society of Kenya.

The award was presented on Tuesday by Agriculture Executive Joyce Mutua and her Chief Officer, Dr. Victoria Kyallo.

AS KENYA MARKS 61 YEARS OF SELF RULE, MAKUENI IS MAKING STRIDES TO FURTHER DEVOLVE RESOURCES AND GOVERNANCE.

As Kenya marks 61 years of self rule, Makueni is making strides to further devolve resources and governance so that wananchi can fully harness the fruits of devolution. As part of this decentralization, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Saturday commissioned the Kilome Sub-county adminstration office where residents will access all devolved services under one roof.

The Governor will also be able to work from this office to adress development matters of the Sub-county.

MADARAKA DAY CELEBRATION: TAKING STOCK ROADS

In the current financial year, we have graded 772 kilometers of roads, opened and widened 286km of new roads and gravelled 79km. We have also rolled out roads for water (green roads) initiative focusing on harnessing road runoff water for agricultural purposes ~ Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.

Water has always remained our priority. Immediately we assumed office, we launched massive programs towards the provision of water through construction of dams, drilling and equiping of boreholes and water distribution to connect water to communities in the Last Mile water development project known as “Kunyaiikua Kiw’u Nduani na Misyini”

Besides the flagship projects, we have constructed smaller dams with a combined capacity of 550,000 cubic meters, laid 208 kilometers of pipeline for distribution and drilled and equiped 47 boreholes~ Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr

In the Financial Year 2024/2025, we have allocated Kshs 1 Million in each ward to support land succession targeting 20 households in each sub-ward. The program will support the vulnerable and poor households in accessing title deeds targeting over 10,000 title deeds ~ Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr

Early this year, my government confirmed 497 ECDE teachers into permanent and pensionable terms in phase one of the exercise. We have budgeted for phase 2 where the remaining teachers will be confirmed ~Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr #KenyaAt61

GOVERNOR MUTULA RECEIVES KSH 15M NEONATAL ICU EQUIPMENT FROM ENI KENYA.

On Friday, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr received a donation of advanced neonatal Intensive Care Unit equipment valued at Sh15 million from Eni Kenya for the Mother and Child Hospital in Wote.

The donation includes neonatal incubators, baby cots, suction machines, infusion pumps, LED phototherapy units, a drug resuscitation trolley, digital hygrometers, vital sign monitors, and defibrillators, among other essential equipment.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr emphasized that this milestone is set to significantly impact neonatal care by increasing survival rates and improving referral processes, ultimately reducing infant mortality rates.

Additionally, the governor signed a cooperation agreement with Eni Kenya Managing Director Enrico Tavolini to provide specialized blood storage equipment at the Referral Hospital, facility equipping & refurbishments, improvements in water & sanitation, hygiene accessibility and a grassroots awareness campaign to promote healthy behaviors at the household level.

MAKUENI COUNTY PARTNERS WITH KITISE RURAL DEVELOPMENT CBO FOR COMMUNITY RESILIENCE BUILDING.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior and his deputy Lucy Mulili on Monday hosted members of Kitise Rural Development, a community based organisation to review its activities in Makueni county.

Kitise Rural Development has been a catalyst for social change, with the aim of improving livelihoods of Makueni residents through provision of access to clean water and sanitation, healthcare services and youth empowerment.

The CBO engages in sustainable livelihood programs including pasture and milk value chain development producing processed yoghurt named Climate Fresh which is in the market.

The CBO has also been instrumental in undertaking capacity building of communities for effective public participation, community-led water harvesting technologies, and strengthening participatory planning & budgeting.

GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JNR HOSTS PASTORS AND CHURCH ELDERS FROM NGWATA AND ÎIANI AIC DISTRICT CHURCH COUNCILS, MASONGALENI WARD WHO PAID HIM A COURTESY CALL ON MONDAY.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr hosts pastors and church elders from Ngwata and Îiani AIC District Church Councils, Masongaleni Ward who paid him a courtesy call on Monday.

They discussed role of the church in community development.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo recognized the importance of the church and pledged support for its community driven development initiatives.
