HER EXCELLENCY ANITA MUTULA, THE FIRST LADY OF MAKUENI AND CHAIRPERSON OF THE ANITA MBINYA FOUNDATION, LED A FOOD DISTRIBUTION EXERCISE TODAY TO 38 SPECIAL SCHOOLS AND CHILDREN’S HOMES ACROSS ALL SIX SUBCOUNTIES IN MAKUENI.

Her Excellency Anita Mutula, the First Lady of Makueni and Chairperson of the Anita Mbinya Foundation, led a food distribution exercise today to 38 special schools and children’s homes across all six subcounties in Makueni.

Anita emphasized the importance of doing good and caring for our orphaned and vulnerable children.

“Giving is a gift, especially when done with love. It’s not about the quantity of what we give, but the amount of love we pour into our giving. I have a deep love for children, and our foundation will continue to seek out more partners to ensure the sustainability of such noble programs,” Anita said.

A total of 2,186 children were reached as 6,000 kilograms of maize flour and 2,400 liters of cooking oil were distributed.

GOVERNOR MUTULA LAUNCHES EYE SURGERY CAMP AT MAKUENI REFERRAL HOSPITAL

Over 300 residents of Makueni will have their eyesight restored through surgery courtesy of the Rotary Club of Nairobi , Rotary Club of Machakos and Government of Makueni County .

A three-day screening and treatment camp for cataracts and other ophthalmic ailments was launched by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and Rotary Club of Nairobi President Susan Murabana at the Makueni County Referral Hospital, Monday, where hundreds turned up for check up.

Governor Mutula said his administration will invest in ophthalmic equipment to combat preventable blindness and create HOPE for more residents.

WOTE STADIUM PROGRESS VISIT.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. conducted a surprise visit to the ongoing Wote Stadium today in order to determine the reasons for its slow progress.

Accompanied by Nicholas Nzioka, the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Sports, as well as his counterparts in Roads and Devolution, the Governor toured the facility and held discussions with the contractor.

Governor Mutula pledged to investigate the outstanding issues regarding the stadium and contact the appropriate national authorities to ensure its completion within this year.

GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR TODAY LED A DELEGATION OF COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS WHO HELD A CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH THE MOROCCAN AMBASSADOR TO KENYA H.E. ABDERRAZAZAK LAASSEL TO DISCUSS AREAS OF PARTNERSHIP.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr today led a delegation of County Executive Committee Members who held a consultative meeting with the Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Abderrazazak Laassel to discuss areas of partnership.

The partnership areas that were discussed included Imaging and Laboratory Services under the Health Department, Climate Change adaptation, Urbanization, Natural resource mapping and mitigation strategies under the Lands Department, and Feasibility studies of water projects in the CIDP, preparing them for donor funding.

Other key areas that were explored included Renewable Energy sources in powering health facilities from dispensaries to level 5 hospitals, power stability and reduction in power operating costs, powering water sources, water distribution, and irrigation processes.

In agriculture, green energy was explored as a means to promote post-harvest practices that increase the shelf life of agricultural produce through the use of solar-powered cold rooms.

Furthermore, community and user capacity building on renewable energy was also discussed in order to enhance knowledge of new technologies in the sector.

INITIATIVE TO TACKLE MALNUTRITION IN MAKUENI

Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili hosted a health department project team on Wednesday, partnering with Kenyatta University and consortium members (Alliance Bioversity & CIAT and FSPN-Africa) for the implementation of the “HealthyDiets4Africa” project.

This EU-funded initiative, aims to combat malnutrition in Africa by diversifying food systems, will be active in Makueni and Nairobi Counties.

Mulili praised the team’s dedication to improving complementary feeding practices, nutrition, and health outcomes in Makueni. She affirmed the county government’s commitment to providing essential support throughout this initiative.

COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER FOR ICT, EDUCATION AND INTERNSHIP, ELIZABETH MULI ON WEDNESDAY HOSTED A DELEGATION OF KITUI COUNTY ICT AND YOUTH OFFICERS FOR PEER-TO-PEER LEARNING ON MAKUENI’S AUTOMATION OF GOVERNMENT SERVICES

Among the projects sparking the interest of the Kitui delegation are Makueni’s web-based inventory System for drugs and pharmaceuticals in 13 health facilities, the Ajiry Center, Makueni Tech and Innovation Hub, The Attachment and Internship Online Management System(IVAS), Land Management Information System among others.

They also learned about myCounty App, a one-stop shop Application for all government services powered through a partnership with Safaricom.

On matters youth, the visiting county was treated to an assortment of programs among them Ujuzi teketeke where youths are trained and offered equipment to start their businesses by the Department of Gender, Children, Youth, Sports, and Social Services.

MAKUENI HAS PARTNERED WITH HOPE MOBILITY KENYA TO ASSES AND PROVIDE MOBILITY DEVICES TO PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE IN THE COUNTY.

Through a collaboration framework signed by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and Hope Mobility Kenya Executive Director Jack Muthui Tuesday, those living with disabilities will undergo proper diagnosis to identify their challenges and receive appropriate assistive devices.

Governor Mutula is upbeat this will bring hope to physically challenged people who are often shunned by society and miss life growth opportunities.

The signing was witnessed by Gender and Social Services Executive Committee Member Nicholas Nzioka and Chief Officer Catherine Katuti, director of Gender Services and the county Disability Mainstreaming Officer. 

MAKUENI’S DEPARTMENT OF ICT, EDUCATION AND INTERNSHIP, HAS UNVEILED ITS STRATEGIC PLAN 2023-2027.

The Plan serves as a comprehensive roadmap, highlighting the trajectory of Makueni County’s transformative endeavors, propelled by technology and education.

The plans has harmonized objectives of the government’s key policies, including Makueni Vision 2025 and the County Integrated Development Plan III 2023 – 2027.

This Plan outlines the docket’s Strategic Vision for Technology Advancement which seeks to intensify the county’s digital landscape and harness technology in the department mandate.

The Plan was unveiled by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr during the award of ECDE caregivers Permanent and Pensionable confirmation letters in Wote, Monday.

ECDE TEACHERS IN MAKUENI CONVERTED TO PERMANENT &PENSIONABLE EMPLOYEES.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has walked the talk on improving the standard of Early Childhood Education in Makueni by confirming 358 teachers to Permanent and Pensionable terms.

The elated teachers were handed their confirmation letters by the Governor in Wote on Monday.

The 358 who were employed between 2014 and 2017 form the first cohort of conversion to permanent terms. A second batch will be confirmed by the start of the 2024/2025 Financial Year

This move comes in the wake of a spirited campaign by several education stakeholders to revert ECD Education to the National Government.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has pledged an unwavering commitment to fostering a thriving education environment where teachers are valued partners in the transformative journey of learners.

In a bid to empower the ECDE teachers professionally, the Governor also flagged off ECDE Learning and Instructional Materials worth Kshs 9.8 Million to be distributed to 1,197 ECDE Learning Centers across the county.

GOVERNOR MUTULA KILONZO JR HAS TODAY INKED A PARTNERSHIP DEAL WITH JACOBS LADDER AFRICA  TO EMPOWER MAKUENI YOUTH IN AGRIBUSINESS

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has today inked a partnership deal with Jacobs Ladder Africa to empower Makueni Youth in Agribusiness, train and build their capacity on financial management and access to resources and market for the products.

The targeted value chains include Poultry, Aquaculture, Bee keeping, Tree nurseries and Vegetable growing.

By the end of January 2024, the first 20 aquaculture group of beneficiaries will be supported to construct fish ponds across the county through the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Youth.
