Let’s uphold peace for development, DG Mulili urges

H.E Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili on Saturday attended wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Nziu at Sultan-Hamud Catholic Church, Kilome Sub-County where she urged locals from the cosmopolitan town to always uphold peace in order to promote development.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by Irene Makau (Devolution Chief Officer), Kavai Nzai (MCA Kasikeu ward), among others local leaders.
 

Joy as governor launches NCPB satellite depots.

H.E Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Friday launched Mukuyuni and Kikima NCPB satellite depots for the last mile delivery of subsidized fertilizer bringing the commodity closer to farmers.
Initially farmers used to get subsidized fertilizers from the three NCPB main depots located at Wote, Emali and Kibwezi Town.
“We will ensure that these depots are opened as early as 7a.m so that farmers can be supplied with fertilizer”, the governor said in Kikima.
128,410 out of 193, 384 farmers registered for the fertilizer subsidy Programme in the County will benefit and make the county food secure.
The Governor was accompanied by NCPB Managing Director Mr. Joseph Kimote , Kaburu Kaimba (county commissioner), CECMs: Japheth Mang’oka (Devolution), Joyce Mutua (Agriculture).
 
 

Reprieve as accident response vehicle for Mombasa-Nairobi highway, Makueni stretch is received

Road crash victims between Mtito-Andei and Malili have better chance of recovery, and even avoiding death since they will be receiving quick medical treatment at the scene of an injury before quickly getting rushed to hospital as H.E governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr receives a road Traffic Accident Response vehicle for the section.
The vehicle came as a result of partnership between the County and Polish Aid.
It will be stationed at Makindu Fire Station, a central place for responding to accidents and will be able to reduce the severity of injuries suffered.
The vehicle is fitted with 2 hydraulic pumps, a hydraulic cutter, a ram and spreader, trauma bags, extension ladders, and a stretcher. All firefighters who are to operate the vehicle have been trained in basic life support and road traffic accident techniques.
 
 

Saving Lives Through Technology.

Proximie Global health leadership led by Dr. Shannon Shibata-Germanos, Head of Global Health Proximie, and the Safaricom team were on Thursday hosted by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and the Makueni health team.
Proximie Global Health together with Jhpiego has partnered with the county government in providing healthcare services by integrating Proximie technology using live video feeds into Jhpiego’s evidence-based obstetric safe surgery (OSS) programme for greater mentorship and training.
According to Dr. Shibata-Germanos, Videos that surgical teams choose to record using the software are housed in the secure online Proximie library for future viewing.
This network has been used to connect 5 hospitals: Mother and Child, Makindu, Sultan Hamud, Mbooni, and Kibwezi hospitals in leveraging the software to enhance quality improvement and mentorship within the successful JHPIEGO led safe obstetric surgical training program.
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr noted that the technology will improve the obstetric surgical care for women in the county and will as well support his commitment to provide all women with dignity in childbirth and reduce maternal and newborn deaths and obstetric-related complications. Proximie and Safaricom are now exploring partnerships with the county to look towards the further scale of the programme across the whole county through enhanced connectivity towards UHC goals.

Leaders led by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, Terry Mbaika (PS devolution), DG Lucy Mulili, First Lady Anita Mutula, FKF president Nick Mwendwa, speaker Doughlas Mbilu, CEMS, MCAs, during the launch of MyMakueni App, Makueni, an all-in-one App which will support among other services:
1. Bring the world to Wote, and Wote to the world
2. Land payments and building payments
3. Revenue collection, add visibility and reconciliation of payments
4. Support application forms in digitization and automation
5. Citizen engagement I.e sema na Mutula Jnr
6. Help you explore Makueni in the tourism sector

The Support for resilient livelihoods in the South of Madagascar (Mionjo) on Tuesday morning paid a courtesy call to Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr during their learning tour of two projects; the Financing Locally-Led Action Program (FLLoCA) and the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Program (KCSAP).
The two similar projects to Mionjo ones back in Madagascar work towards strengthening devolution through sustainable agriculture, climate adaptative strategies, and improving food security.
The Governor termed participatory development, evidence-based planning, and household mapping worthy to be borrowed since they are key in realizing the fruits of devolution.

Protecting Devolution.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr today was among governors who attended the full council meeting to deliberate on pertinent issues protecting devolution for the Makueni people and Kenya at large.
It was addressed among other issues that:
i) Treasury should immediately release sh. 94.35 billion owed to the Counties lest operations within the counties will be shut down after 14 days ultimatum.
ii) Conveyed dissatisfaction after the senate voted against Division of a revenue bill, 2023 that would have seen counties get sh. 407 billion as an equitable share in FY 2023/2024.
 

Governor Mutula flags off Makueni team to KYISA Games, Tharaka Nithi.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr today flagged off Makueni team to the eighth edition of Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) Games slated for next week in Tharaka Nithi.
While addressing the youngsters aged 18-23 years during the flagging off ceremony, the governor assured them of his support in nurturing talents and ensuring Makueni continues producing champions in sports.
The Executive for Gender, Children, Youth, sports and Social ,Services, Nicholas Nzioka, on his bid said he was very certain that they had a formidable team in the three disciplines of football, volleyball and basketball that will excel in the competition.
The KYISA games under theme, “Talanta Mashinani” kicks off on Monday and will be played in Kajiunduthi stadium, Kairuni, Kibugua, and Chuka University, Chuka Girls’ High School and Chuka Boys’ High School.
The ceremony was attended by CECMs-Japheth Musyoka Mang’oka (Devolution, Public Service, Public Participation & Special Programmes), Peter Mumo Nyamai (Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture & Tourism, Irene Makau (CO Devolution), Stephen Ndolo (Health), Catherine Syombua (C.O gender & sports), MCAs Felix Mateso (Wote/Nziu) and Elizebeth Muthike Muli (Nominated).
