Makueni Department of Health Services Collaborates with NHIF to Enhance Revenue Collection

In a move to enhance own source revenue in Makueni County, the Department of Health Services, led by Ag. CECM Ms. Elizabeth Muli, held a consultative meeting on Tuesday with NHIF Wote Branch, headed by Branch Manager Mr. David Kimanzi.

Key initiatives discussed included:

– Ensuring all hospitals are able to register NHIF patients across 24-hours in all hospitals.

– Collaborating with NHIF to correctly classify all hospitals to their operational levels (Level 4 and Level 5)

– Ensuring timely claims processing through weekly submissions by all facilities.

The Department of Health Services expressed appreciation for NHIF’s support, while NHIF reiterated its commitment to efficient claims processing despite high workloads.

THE DEPARTMENT OF ICT, EDUCATION AND INTERNSHIP CECM GRACED THE LAUNCH OF ALICE NGUNZU DIGITAL LAB AT NGAA SECONDARY SCHOOL IN KISAU/ KITETA WARD MBOONI SUB COUNTY.

The Department of ICT, Education and Internship CECM graced the launch of Alice Ngunzu digital lab at Ngaa secondary school in Kisau/ Kiteta Ward Mbooni sub county.

Equiped with high end computing devices with top notch specs, the digital laboratory will serve neighboring secondary and primary schools in a bid to enhance digital literacy.

This initiative will provide a seamless transition to the CBC curriculum on matters science and technology.

While making her remarks,the CECM reiterated Governor’s agenda on automation of government services where ICT centers have been implemented.

Ms. Elizabeth Muli also emphasized on the importance of tech savvy as the future is bound on technology.

She also promised that the county government, through her department will ensure setting up of a digital infrastructure and maintainance of the same to ensure the citizenry is digitally empowered through our ICT centers.

The CECM also pledged to donate 2000 books to Ngaa secondary school, a noble course towards promoting quality education.

Wonder Farm, nestled in Makindu ward, stands out as an inspiration of agricultural innovation and sustainability. At its wheel is Phoebe Mwangangi, a dedicated mixed crop-livestock farmer whose commitment to embracing climate-smart agriculture sets her apart.

Mwangangi stands out as an early adopter of innovative farming methods, thanks to her participation in the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) training program. This initiative has empowered her with the knowledge and tools to thrive amidst the challenges of climate change.

On Monday, she played host to a prominent delegation comprising members from AICCRA and the County Government of Makueni, alongside hundreds of fellow farmers from the region. Their visit to the model farm served as a testament to her remarkable achievements and served to inspire others to follow suit.

Key to Mwangangi’s success is her adoption of conservation agriculture techniques, including minimum tillage, intercropping of legumes and cereals, efficient weed management, and mulching. These practices not only enhance soil fertility but also promote water conservation and resilience to drought.

MAKUENI’S AGRICULTURAL INNOVATIONS STEAL THE SHOW AT AFRICA FERTILIZER SUMMIT 2024

The Makueni booth at the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit 2024 was a huge success, attracting over 1000 delegates from across Africa who convened at the KICC in Nairobi. 

The summit, themed “Listen to the Land,” brought together over 2000 delegates from across Africa to discuss fertilizer and soil health solutions for better agriculture. 

Makueni showcased a range of technologies for fertilizer and soil health solutions including push and pull, which entails use of legumes to repel pests, organic and inorganic fertilizers, and  use of GIS in natural resource management.

Makueni, supported by  Kenya Cereals Enhancement Programme-Climate Resilient Agricultural Livelihoods (KCEP-CRAL), conducted  soil analyses for over 16,000 farmers, guiding them on crop choices.

KCEP-CRAL facilitated the adoption of climate-smart agriculture practices among farmers, such as deep tillage, and provided essential farm inputs like certified seeds,  hermetic bags and tarpaulins, through the e-voucher system

 Agriculture ExecutiveJoyce Mutua led the county’s delegation in the three-day summit, which concluded with  official closing by President William Ruto on Thursday.

GOVERNOR MUTULA UNVEILS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN MASONGALENI, PROMISING BETTER HEALTH, WATER, AND EDUCATION FOR RESIDENTS.

During a working tour of Masongaleni Ward on Wednesday, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr and deputy Lucy Mulili unveiled a series of development goodies geared towards improving the quality of life for residents.

In Ngwata Location, Governor Mutula inspected Ngwata Health Centre maternity wing meant to enhance maternal and neonatal services.

In Kativani, the two commissioned a KIBMAWASCO pipeline extension water point which will benefit 1,800 residents.

At Yikitaa, Governor Mutula launched desilting of Uyi earth dam set to benefit 20 villages and modern ECDE Center.

Later in the day, they commissioned Ulilinzi Stock Yard before addressing wananchi.

20 VILLAGES IN MASONGALENI TO BENEFIT FROM UYI DAM.

20 villages in Masongaleni Ward are poised to benefit with clean water from Uyi earthdam desilted by the county government in partnership with the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA).

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Wednesday launched the Sh 50M rehabilitation works of the dam during a development tour of Masongaleni Ward.

The dam is a reprieve to hundreds of residents who have to travel long distances to fetch water from River Athi, sometimes risking attacks by crocodiles and hippos.

Some of the targeted villages include Yikitaa, Ngomano, Kyuasini, Maiani, Yimuange, Ngukuni, Nguumo, Kiliani, Makuuni, Yinguvu, Utini, Yimboo, Sokomoto, Ngomeni and Yimavui. Three schools, two market centres and a dispensary will also benefit.
