Governor Mutula on Thursday evening conducted an inspection of the ongoing Kamunyolo Dam improvement works.The works include the construction of an apron and retaining walls to protect the dam’s spillway. Earlier in the afternoon, the governor inspected the status of water projects across the county in anticipation of the onset of the rains.

The county is burning the midnight oil to ensure that the projects are completed and secured before the rains begin. The governor directed the contractor to ensure the project is completed on time and insisted on high-quality workmanship.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. inspects Phase III of the Ndukuma Earth Dam Water Project in Muvau/Kikumini Ward. The project comprises a 30-cubic-metre elevated tank at Kaseve, alongside an extensive water distribution network serving Mandoi, Kilisa Market and Kwa Pius Market. Institutional connections will extend to Mandoi Dispensary, Kilisa Dispensary, Kilisa Primary School, Mandoi Primary School and Mandoi Market.

The project draws water from Ndukuma Dam, with a capacity of 365,000 cubic metres .

A flagship water infrastructure project for the county, Ndukuma Earth Dam remains substantially filled despite the prevailing dry season, with the onset of the rains only days away, underscoring its strategic role in strengthening water security and resilience across the area.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. inspects the ongoing construction of Londokwe Dam in Kitise-Kithuki Ward. The dam project covers 42 acres and is being implemented in phases, with Phase One covering 12 acres for reservoir excavation, embankment construction and spillway works. The works are expected to be completed within the next 21 days.

The embankment and spillway works are 95 per cent complete, while reservoir excavation is ongoing. Two streams supply water to the dam.

Mutula said that before the rains, the county will have achieved the intended depth and completed the embankment.He said more county equipment will be deployed to hasten the works.

Once operational, the dam will supply water for domestic use and irrigation.

He said Phase Two will involve developing the remaining 30 acres once the expected rains subside.

The completed dam is expected to store more than 240,000 cubic metres of water.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has commissioned the Ngandani Water Project in Kikumbulyu South Ward as part of his development tour of the ward on Wednesday.

The Ksh 10 million project, funded by the Government of Makueni County through the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme, will improve access to clean and reliable water for more than 300 households in Kiluluini, Ivuisya, Kithimani, Kevanda, Masalani and Kivuti villages.

Water is sourced from Kivungoni Springs and distributed through a 10-kilometre extension from the Kithokoosyo storage tank, connecting six water points, Kasemeini dispensary and Kevanda Primary School.

He was accompanied by Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili, MCAs Jades Kalunda, Eric Katumo, Elizabeth Kawembe, and a host of local leaders.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. continues his mission to address water challenges across the county by commissioning the extended Kilui Water Project, which will serve Mbeetwani in Kikumbulyu South.

Accompanied by Area MCA Jades Kalunda, ECMs, several MCAs, and other local leaders, the governor rallied residents to support his administration’s development agenda, particularly its efforts to address the county’s water challenges.

𝗪𝗢𝗧𝗘, 𝟮𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 – Residents of Wote and its environs will soon have a more reliable water supply following the ongoing construction of the Kaiti IV Water Project along the Kaiti River.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Tuesday inspected the project as he toured water infrastructure being developed in Wote/ Nziu ward to address persistent water shortages .

The Kaiti IV project is being implemented by Tanathi Water Services Board in partnership with the Makueni County Government under the Kitui-Matuu-Wote Last Mile water Connectivity Project.

Mutula said the project had incorporated lessons from earlier sand dam projects, and enhanced technology to improve water retention .

The governor said the county government would ensure the project is completed before the onset of the rains.

The project is among measures being undertaken by the county government to increase water availability and address perennial shortages affecting residents in Wote.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. inspects the ongoing rehabilitation works at the Kamunyolo Earth Dam spillway. The works are aimed at reinforcing the spillway and enhancing the dam’s structural integrity.

Residents appealed for the works to be fast-tracked to enhance the dam’s safety and resilience ahead of the anticipated El Niño rains. Mutula instructed the contractor to work day and night to ensure completion of the works.

The governor also inspected the Kamunyolo improvement works within the facility. He unveiled plans by the county to create a recreational centre at the facility, featuring security lights and cameras.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. inspects the solarization of Mwaani boreholes in Kituasi Village, Mwaani,where three boreholes are being powered by solar energy with a combined capacity of 24.5kW to reduce electricity costs and enhance water supply.

He said the County Government will drill additional boreholes at the site. The site has been installed with CCTV cameras to safeguard the infrastructure. Mutula unveiled plans to automate water kiosks for efficient management of the resource.

He was accompanied by ECMs, Wote/ Nziu MCA Felix Mateso, County Assembly Committee Chairperson on Water Sarah Mbilu, and other county officials.
