DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES CONDUCTS INTEGRATED HEALTH OUTREACH IN KITISE

The Department of Health Services, in collaboration with World Vision Kenya and Mountain Blue Foundation, on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive integrated health outreach programme in Ngunguuni, Kitise-Kithuki Ward.

Hundreds of residents turned up for the free medical camp, which offered essential healthcare services, including cancer screening, HPV vaccination, diabetes management, and nutrition services.

Leading the initiative, Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili urged locals to prioritize their health by seeking regular medical check-ups.

She reaffirmed the County’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and assured that similar outreach programmes would be rolled out across different parts of the County.

Delivering Quality Healthcare for Sustainable Development

In an endeavour to retool the health sector in Makueni, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili and CEC Health Services Dr. Paul Musila on Tuesday held a lengthy consultative meeting with all county medical specialists to share experiences and recommendations for better healthcare.
The meeting, governor Mutula Jnr said, sought to identify the most sustainable development trajectory of the health sector through enhancing the achievements and sealing the gaps identified by the medical specialists.
Health workers promotions, provision of a conducive work environment and adequate staffing are some of the personnel issues the governor committed to address going forward.

CULTURE MEETS CARE: KMTC MAKUENI CELEBRATES DIVERSITY

Makueni KMTC, Wote Campus came alive on friday, as medical students celebrated the third annual Cultural Day under the theme “Beyond Borders; One Medicine, Many Cultures.”

The theme highlights how medicine, though practiced globally, is enriched by diverse cultural backgrounds and traditions.

The vibrant event showcased colorful cultural attire, traditional music and even creative rap performances. Students also thrilled the crowd with innovative outfits inspired by their medical training and blending creativity with their profession.

The Campus Principal Mary Kioko who was joined by Culture Director Mutua Mulonzya applauded the event’s growing impact, describing it as a powerful celebration of diversity that continues to unite students through culture and creativity.

Jointly organized by the college and the Makueni County Department of Culture, the event is steadily gaining traction—with corporate sponsors now eyeing future partnerships to support this unique fusion of health and heritage.

CS MVURYA IGNITES COTTON REVIVAL WITH FLAG-OFF of 107 TONNES SEED.

Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry Salim Mvurya and Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr have flagged off distribution of 107 metric tonnes of premium cotton seeds to Makueni farmers.

Mvurya termed Makueni County as part of the national government’s key priority areas for revitalizing the cotton sector for sustainable fabric production.

Governor Kilonzo on the other hand encouraged farmers to embrace cotton cultivation, highlighting the county’s ideal climate and the lucrative market opportunities presented by the ginnery’s proximity.

The event was attended by State Department of Trade Principal Secretary Abubakar Yussuf, Special Economic Zones Authority Chairperson Fred Muteti, and Kenya Development Corporation Ag. Director General Nora Ratemo.
